Treat acne without Antibiotics!
Today we can treat acne successfully without the use of oral antibiotics, which in long term can cause resistance. Call today (212)242-3066 to make your appointment with Dr. Davis!
Available Treatments:
Dr. Davis can prescribe traditional acne medications such as topical retinoids (over seven different brands exist in several strengths and forms-creams, gels, pumps), topical antibiotics (drying solutions, less drying gels, moisturizing lotions, washes, and wipes), topical acids, topical benzoyl peroxide products (washes, gels, wipes; alone, or mixed with different antibiotics), oral antibiotics (many different types), and others. Dr. Davis also prescribes Accutane, an oral retinoid that eliminates acne. It can have certain side effects so it is generally reserved for patients with cystic acne refractory to other treatments; or can be used for patients who just want their acne cured.
If a patient wants a pimple/cyst cleared quickly, acne surgery is an excellent alternative or adjunct to medication. During this procedure blackheads are extracted, and Dr. Davis injects cortisone directly into pimples, causing them to shrink and disappear in anywhere from 2-24 hours.
Other treatments that also offer overall imporvement to your skin tone and texture, as well as clearing acne include: Chemical Peels, Dermasweep &Photodynamic Therapy

Platelet Rich Plasma for Hair Loss | ||
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is a ground-breaking therapy where your body’s platelets (found in plasma—a component of our blood) are used to stimulate hair follicles to regrow hair. At least 8 essential growth factors are found in platelets. The function of platelets is to promote healing and aid in the clotting of blood at the site of a wound. Platelets contain growth factors that promote regeneration of the cells in the body. PRP has been used in medicine for the last two decades. It has been proven to restore hair and is now used for hair loss.
Recent scientific data has shown that PRP Therapy can also be an aid in treatment for patients who experience hair loss—it works equally well in men and women and treats all types of hair loss, including scarring alopecia. Patients with thinning eyebrows can also benefit from this procedure.
A small amount of your blood is drawn, placed in a sterile tube, and spun in a centrifuge to separate the PRP. The PRP is then extracted from the tube and dispersed onto the areas of concern using a micro-needling technique to introduce it to the scalp. Additionally, a series of direct PRP injections, using a fine needle, will complete the treatment.
A series of 4 to 6 treatments, at 6 to 8 weeks intervals, is recommended for best results. There is no risk of an allergic reaction or rejection since the PRP is derived is from your own blood.
The number of treatments required will depend on how you respond to the procedure and the extent of the problem being treated. The result is also dependent on whether micro-needling was used. Micro-needling creates micro “injuries” to the skin, significantly increasing our own natural healing mechanism, and improving outcomes over direct PRP injections alone.
